CORAL GABLES, FL — The Alan Stalcup Scholarship is proud to recognize Leah Rutherford, a Jazz Vocal student approaching her junior year at the University of Miami Frost School of Music, as one of its newest scholarship recipients.
Growing up in a musical family, Leah has always known that music would play a central role in her future. Today, she is turning that lifelong passion into a professional career — performing throughout Miami, teaching music, and continuing to develop her artistry and vocal technique through her studies.
Looking ahead, Leah plans to record and eventually release her own arrangements and compositions while expanding her knowledge of the business side of the music industry. She also hopes to use her degree and experience to teach music at the higher-education level, passing along the same kind of support and mentorship that helped shape her own journey.
For Leah, receiving the Alan Stalcup Scholarship represents more than financial assistance. It is an investment in her education, her artistry, and her goal of contributing to the next generation of musicians.
